The Digital Asia Hub, Hong Kong, seeks a part-time, paid Program Coordinator to support our Executive Director and perform a range of administrative, research, and related activities.

Job Description

The Digital Asia Hub is a Hong Kong-based independent Internet and society research hub. Incubated by the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University and a diverse group of academic, civil society, and private sector partners, the Hub provides a non-partisan, open, and collaborative platform for research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building related to Internet and society issues with a focus on digital Asia.

The Hub seeks a Program Coordinator resident in Hong Kong to support the Executive Director and to perform a range of administrative, research, and related activities. S/he will be part of a global community of scholars and practitioners, and work in close collaboration with the Digital Asia Hub’s partners and collaborators in Asia and beyond to advance a range of interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research related to the study and development of Internet & society. The Hub’s core mission involves research, knowledge sharing and capacity building.

The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director to set up the administrative infrastructure of the new think tank as well as develop the research portfolio, outreach and activities. Specific duties will include: growing the Hub’s social media presence and identity; drafting and editing written materials including newsletters, research outputs and grant proposals; conducting research to support various projects and initiatives; coordinating correspondence with external partners, funders, and affiliates; integrating the efforts of multiple project partners in different countries; monitoring timelines and outputs; working on the Hub’s seminar series, conferences and other events towards building community.

Based on the evolving needs of a dynamic new think tank with a regional focus, the Program Coordinator may be called upon for other tasks at short notice.

Basic Qualifications

1-3 years of administrative or research experience. The applicant must be resident in Hong Kong, and eligible and authorised to work there (the Digital Asia Hub will not sponsor visas or work permits in relation to this position).

Additional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred, as is experience in a non-governmental or academic setting in a research or administrative capacity. Proficiency with online tools for research, publishing and communication is required. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential; an ability to work in Cantonese or other Asian languages would be a good asset. Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and an ability to navigate a range of topics is a plus. Applicants should have strong organisational and research skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills are required, and attention to detail is a must. The ideal candidate will work well both independently as well as in teams, and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial, dynamic environment with a strong focus on ethics, collaboration, values and impact.
